That morning when we got up, we were very hungry so we decided to go to Tim Horton's for breakfast. We heard it was a great place to have breakfast, similar to a Dunkin Donut's. When we got there they were really busy, so we decided to walk back to the hotel to eat. They had a buffet breakfast for $23 a person. The hotel had a cook behind the counter that would make you an omelet, or any type of eggs. Both Dallas and I got an omelet. Austin got eggs and bacon, hash browns and fruit and whatever else he could pile on to his plate! We all did. (Austin) My Mom kept putting pastries in a napkin and into the backpack so we would have snacks throughout the day. I was so embarrassed!! (HaHa! It wasn’t me, it was actually Dad) He wanted to save them just in case we got hungry through out the day…..
After breakfast we went back up to our hotel room to rest a little before heading out again. We took the bag out and all the pastries were sticking to each other. When we were refreshed we went down to the Air Canada Centre again to catch the train from Union Station to the mall.
(Austin) My parents wanted to go explore and venture to the multi-level mall and I was dragged into going with them. The mall had four stories and was filled with shops. The mall had three or four of the same shops, but on different floors. After shopping for 2 hours it was time for lunch, so we headed to the food court to grab something to eat. The place was huge with pretty much the same restaurants we have at our malls, but more people. We all split up and got our own assortment of foods. After that we split up again and went to different stores. I choose to go to EB Games were I saw a PSP game called NHL07, which I just had to get, took and advance on my allowance, luckily for me, it was the last one they had. When we were done with the mall we went outside and my parents saw a shop they liked across the street so we went in there. While I waited for 45 minutes, all my parents got were a couple of sets of sheets for their new king size bed. When they were finished with that we went down and looked at the skating rink right next to the mall and by City Hall.
The skating rink was filled with young and old skaters. Then we headed back on the subway to go to the hotel to relax our legs. The weather was cloudy with a good stiff wind that made it seem a lot colder than it actually was. It started to rain a short time later. For New Year's dinner my Mom made reservations at the restaurant called The San Francisco Wharf Restaurant. The people at the concierge of our hotel said it was only a couple of blocks from the hotel but while we were walking there it began to rain really hard and got really windy. When we had finally reached the restaurant it was downtown which meant we walked at least 8 blocks and could have avoided the rain and aggravation by riding the subway. You live and learn. So by the time we finally got there we were all very wet, cold and cranky.
(Mom) The restaurant was right by the skating rink where the Toronto New Year’s Celebration was going to take place so at least we didn’t have far to walk. For dinner Austin and Dad got the steak, crab and lobster. I decided on escargot and lobster bisque which are usually my favorite foods but I didn’t enjoy them at all. It was getting towards 9:30 PM or so we decided to walk over to City Square where the New Years Eve bash was taking place. It had been raining most of the night but they went on with the celebration anyway. We stayed for a while until it began to pour so hard we had to get out of there as all the covered spots what few there were jammed with people getting out of the rain. We decided to leave and head back to the hotel by way of the subway. We ended up watching the whole celebration on television while we were in the comforts of our hotel room.
