Montreal 2007

March 18th, 2007

March 18, 2007 Well another weekend almost over. We had one free buffet breakfast coupon left so I decided to go to the front desk and say that I must have lost the other one just so we could get another day of breakfast for free and it worked! Dallas didn't want any breakfast so Austin and I went while he went to the garage to get our L.P. (License plate) for our souvenir picture. And as always, he was successful.

After breakfast and completing our packing we headed downstairs to catch the bus. As it turned out we saw a bus stop at the hotel and we were all wondering if that was our transportation so we asked the valet if that was our bus and he say no. Well, it was. He was so new he didn't know for sure so we ended up having to take a white knuckle taxi ride to the airport. Our flight was on time, a smooth flight back to Dulles where we had about an hour layover. We walked around a bit then settled down to either watch the planes come in or read. We were all very sad to see the weekend end but we sure had a lot of fun. When we arrived back in Orlando, somehow our luggage never arrived. Long and short of it, we finally got it 2 days later, delivered to our door. Back to warm weather and to our daily routines. We sure hope Austin was surprised about the trip and enjoyed it as much as we did. He was, we're sure of it.

(Montreal 2007)

March 18, 2007 Sunday Austin's Journey Entry

Today would be our last day in Montreal. We got up at 7:30 to get dressed and to pack the rest of our bags. When we were packed and dressed we headed to the lobby to catch a bus to the airport. A bus came but we didn't think it was the right bus and the valet said he didn't think it was either. Well, just after the bus left a guy from the hotel came over and said that was our bus. We had to grab a cab to the airport. The driver drove really fast which made us all a bit nervous, the roads were wet and slippery. The fee was $35. Once you got through all the baggage checks and security it was nice and calm. We were able to sit and watch the planes land and taxi to the terminal. I watched many plans as they were covered in snow as it was still snowing, not as hard as yesterday. Once our plane landed and taxied, it was our turn to get on. We got on and organized ourselves for the flight. The pilot of the plane said that we had to be de-iced, which means we have to be sprayed with a chemical that makes all the ice crystals that formed on the plane melt. There was 2 other planes getting de-iced when we were getting the treatment. After that was going to be just a normal flight, And it was a normal flight until we started our descent. When we were in our traffic pattern we were getting ALOT of turbulence. It was scary and annoying at the same time. Our landing was smooth and wonderful once we touched down.

Now were in Washington! There was another layover there. So we went to get something to eat. We went to a place where they sold Mexican food. My dad got some tacos and my mom and I got two HUGE burritos. We didn't eat our food until we were in the air. So, while I was waiting, I was listening to the control tower in the plane. I was listening because I will need some examples of talking to the Control tower when I go flying as part of my ground schooling and license requirements.

We were seated in the back of the plane. At least 10 minutes later we were cleared to takeoff to Orlando. We took off and we were climbing to our cruise altitude. While we were climbing I started to eat my lunch. My parents were too. While we were cruising at 35,000 feet, I looked out my window and I saw a small Delta Connection plane. So I took out my camera and took some pictures. After I took those pictures my camera battery died so I had to use my dads camera. When we were about 1 hour into the flight the clouds cleared and I was looking outside because I had nothing else to do. I took my dads camera and just started taking pictures. We were assigned Runway 36R for our landing. Once we were on our base leg I had a perfect picture of the airport. When we were on final I was looking at runway 35L(35 Left) and there was 5 planes waiting to take off. When we landed the first thing I did was look at the wing. I did that because, I need to know what to activate when I land a plane in flight Simulator X. After that we taxied to our assigned gate. They parked the plane at the jetway. The Jetway moved towards the plane and attaches to it so people can get into the terminal.

We gathered our backpacks and headed out. When we were headed to the baggage claim area, we looked at our plane. There was a dent and it looked like it got hit by a bird a BIG bird. We headed to the baggage pick up area to of course pick up our luggage. But today wasn't the case for quite a few of the people on board. In Washington the baggage had to go through customs. So the luggage never made it on the flight. About 26% of the people on board never got there luggage. They got it after a few days when they got flown in. When I got home I emptied everything out of my bag and went outside to play with my friend Sam. That night my Dad talked to United about the situation of the luggage. After a lot of yelling and lots of headaches it finally came (2 days later). It was a very awesome, adventurous, and fascinating trip!!!!!

Thanks Mom and Dad.

MONTREAL ROCKS!!!!!
