Washington, D. C. to Orlando, Florida

Entry:

Up early as usual headed downstairs to have our breakfast in the lobby then back upstairs to arrange getting together at the Smithsonian Museum. We planned to meet everyone at the National Air and Space Museum. While waiting we decided to check out the IMAX and see the Straight Up Helicopters in Action and the Space Station in 3D, which were really interesting. Well we finally met up with everyone at the food court. From there Nancy and I walked over to the American History Museum through the cold and rainy weather. Dallas and Austin stayed behind to enjoy the Space Museum.

We got to see all of the museum, even got to ride in a F-16 Flight Simulator. Austin was the pilot and I was the gunner. He had us actually upside down, doing rolls and summersaults. I could not take control as his controls only flew the simulator. He managed to up right us after hanging inverted inside the simulated for 25 seconds or so. It was very realistic with the screen in front of you dictating what was going on thru the controls. I actually felt a little sick when I got out. There was a lot of history there, the history of aviation.

Due to all the snow around, the driving conditions and traffic jams were horrible. The parking is very limited. We never did make it down to the White House or walk to any of the monuments due to the heavy rain. It took us over an hour to drive 12 blocks due to the traffic. At that time the rain was really getting harder so we gave the car to the valet and went to our room. We all were undecided on what to do for dinner, so we ordered Pizza Hut room service. We finally ate at 9:30 P.M. and watched some tv and then dozed off listing to the rain hitting the window.
