Entry:

I woke up somewhere around 4:30 A.M. local time, still trying to adjust to the time difference. We decided not to go to Pearl Harbor today as we have to leave for the airport by 11:30 A.M. We felt that it would really be rushed to see it all. Better be safe than sorry and miss our flight as the next flight is not until Wednesday. We tossed and turned and finally at 6:00 A.M. I turned the TV on to watch the news. I was joined shortly by Sharon and then Austin started to stir. We had some juice, snacked on some blueberry muffins. We all took a couple of cat naps and just relaxed and watched TV. Did some repacking with the box I got from the kitchen yesterday to lighten the load a bit. We ended up really making the boxes and the suitcase a lot lighter. The cardboard box was weighed down with clothes and water. Finally we all got our lazy bones up and got ready to go. The bell man came to the room to collected our belonging and we headed down to wait for the van to go to the airport. We are heading to Majuro today with a short stop on Johnson Island.

It was a short drive to the airport, the driver unloaded our boxes, suitcase, dive gear and carry on's as I went inside to find a porter. The line inside to the ticket counter was somewhat long. After a short time, the porter showed up and took our belongings inside and I went to get in line. He stayed with Sharon and Austin. Finally it was my turn and the agent went thru the usual procedure of checking the pass ports and asking all sorts of questions. "How many bags do you have to check"? Seven I said. He went over to the porter to discuss something and just my luck started to weigh the luggage. Oh great, another hit. He came back and said it would be another $50.00 for the extra piece. Never mind, I 1st got hit with a $400.00 charge from Delta, the water was not worth it. I said, "we'll trash it"! The porter came back and asked me if we wanted to move some of the contents from the card board box to the other boxes. I am puzzled. Delta weighted them and said they were over weight. Ok, Sharon and Austin moved the contents among the boxes as I stayed min linr and finished checking in for the flight with Aloha. Now I am really puzzled, how can they be under weight now and over weight yesterday? Did Delta screw us? I think so. We ended up not having to pay extra and still managed to get all of our extra weight in the boxes and still they were all under 70 pounds.

Heading thru security I had to content with the oxygen bottle. All the lockers inside the airport have been closed by the FAA, so I had no choice than to take it with us. We went thru security and I told them I had a oxygen bottle in my possession. They pulled me aside and took my name and flight number and told me to tell the gate agent that I a O2 bottle. Off we went thru. We were invited to go to the Aloha Airlines lounge before we boarded and had some drinks and relaxed a bit. We stayed there for about 30 minutes and headed to gate 62. Down and outside the terminal. We had to walk to the plane and up the plane stairs. Needless to say I didn't say anything to the gate agent and they never asked. We boarded the plane. Austin and I are sitting in seats 1 D and F and Sharon is in 3A. They did not have seats together. We are on our way to Johnston Island Atoll, which is about 1000 miles south west of Honolulu. It is still an active military base with all base personnel working and living there. Johnston Atoll is 3/4 of a mile wide and a mere 2 miles long. The waters surrounding it are a pure light green and violet. Once we landed, we could not get off the plane. Four people got off and 2 got on. We talked to the pilot for a while and met some locals who were heading back home to Majuro. Shortly we took off again and headed to Majuro. The Aloha plane had no movies or the ability to even listen to music, my laptop battery died and Austin was watching Harry Potter, so I just dreamed of well, I can't tell you that!!!
