We awoke to a beautiful day. Clear skies, stiff breeze. We are heading out to Baby Beach today on the southeast tip of the island. This beach was highly recommended in the web sites that I looked at. But as usual, I got everyone lost. Or maybe it was the map reader who was giving the directions. Somehow, we ended up in the middle of the island instead of driving down 1A along the coast line. So we drove thru all these small towns, people sitting and chatting, doing nothing at all. We finally arrived at the talked about Baby Beach. The beach and water were picturesque.

The tide was coming in so Austin and I downed on mask to check it out. Again, deeply disappointed. Very few corals, very few fish. This was a highly ranked spot...so far not impressed at all. We all stayed out for a hour or so, came in and had lunch. Somewhere along the way we lost my screwdriver that is used in the removal of coral. I went back out to try and find it but it was useless.

Austin stayed in around this downed tree, approx 8 feet from the shore. This one tree stump had about 25-30 fish hanging around. Austin tried his best to catch some but no luck. I caught 2 small rock skippers and 2 anemones. It was getting late in the day, we were all sun burned from being out since 10:00 AM. We headed back to the hotel and stopped along the way to set the fish cage up across from the supermarket that we had stopped by in the morning to buy milk and shampoo. Wow,$2.95 for a half gallon of milk. Once the cage was set up, Austin and I decided to go and do as little more fish catching. No sooner than we started out that he caught a stripped butterfly. Then as luck would have it, we came across this school of tangs. By them was this big flat rock about 4 feet in length and sitting on one edge. I put the net at one end and shoveled my stick from the other in a sweeping motion and as luck would have it, just happened to be in the right area and caught 3, all at one time. Then I notice these antenna's poking out from beneath the rock.

With the tangs firmly in the net, I put my stick under the rock and out come this lobster. Thank goodness Austin was right there and scouped him up with his net. He was in seventh heaven. We headed back in, both of us with our treasures. I stopped off and put the tangs inside the cage while Austin headed in to show Sharon the lobster. It wasn't too big, maybe around 8 inches or so. He posed for his photograph and we took him back out and put him in the holding cage. He wants me to put it in our tank at home...I suggested that we bring him to a restaurant and have them cook it for dinner...that didn't go over to well.

Once back in the room, it was Austin's choice to pick dinner as usual on every Friday. He opted for soup in the package, so soup it was. Sharon and I had tuna fish sandwiches. I knew once we got back to the room, we were in for the night. I dosed off while Austin played on his Game Boy and the interior decorator watched Trading Spaces on TLC. Here we are on vacation watching tv, it's just like being at home. It was a relaxing evening.
