Toronto, Canada, 2002

May 25th, 2002

We all rolled out of bed at 9:30 AM, must be the cooler weather that kept us in a slight hibernation. Off to breakfast we go. After breakfast we headed out to the CN Tower to check out the view and tour the Air Canada Center where Austin wanted to see where the Maple Leafs play hockey. After a short movie on the tower, we wisped up 1150 feet in 58 seconds. The view was spectacular. There was not a cloud in the sky. When walking around the tower you can see all of the City and the surrounding area's and you cannot grasp on how large this City really is. We attempted to walk outside the tower about 10 feet below the observation deck, and the wind was so strong, estimated at 250 MPH, you could hardly move. On the same floor thay had glass panels in the floor that you could walk on or lie on to look at the view below. Kind of erie walking on these and looking 1150 feet below you to the ground. I was surprised that Austin did it, he actually layed down on the floor and looked below to the ground. The ride down to the ground seems faster than going up, the outside of the elevator was glass and it was quite a trip. We did some shopping and went to the arcade game room where Austin played some video games. We then headed to the Air Canada Center to see where the Maple Leafs played hockey, a short walk about 10 minutes down the street. Here another state of the art facility. I will note that Toronto is a very clean city. Don't see much litter around. The steeets are clean, ect, something you don't see in most City's. We stopped at the Maple Leafs gift shop where Austin wanted to get a Maple Leafs shirt. He has become quite the hockey fan over the past month, watching each plauyoff game with me until his eye's wil take no more. It was too bad that there were not playing at home this weekend, rather than in Carolina. We could not find a shirt that fit him, seems all they had was adult small. We headed back to the hotel and had lunch at the Bistro, again watching the ball game against the Cleveland Indians for an hour. We will be going to the game tomorrow. After lunch, Austin and I headed back to the room to watch the hockey game, Colorado and Detroit where Sharon went shopping.
